Press Release:  WE Rock World Finals have been postponed

The WE Rock World Finals scheduled for the 26^th January 2008 have been postponed. 

 The postponement of the event is a result international teams being unable to commit to the event.

 Event director Sam Overton said “It really is disappointing that this event is not going to happen.  We have been working very hard over the last 3 years with a specific focus on this event.  In 2006 WE Rock Australia was able to fund and send 4 buggies and their team members to the US for the 2006 World Finals in Las Vegas and we were hoping that WE Rock USA would do the same…but recent restructuring changes have meant that that wasn’t possible.”

 “The reality of the situation is that the sport at its current level isn’t able to carry the expense of hosting World championships every year.  The cost to send teams and vehicles half way around the world is just too great at this point to try to make happen every year.  We are now examining the possibility holding the event every two years.” 

2007 was a very successful year for WE Rock Australia with the introduction of their demountable man made courses that culminated in the We Rock Australia Finals at Grafton Showground in NSW.

 Sam Overton continues “2008 will be a big year for WE Rock – with our man made courses we now have the ability to bring this sport to the people.”

The first event on the calendar will be "Put Up or Shut Up" at Rover Park on the 23rd and 24th January 2008.
